Light in the city

During development of the street furniture system for the South Korean city of Paju, the lighting elements were the subject of particular attention. The challenge was to develop a system comprising both large and small street lights, as well as lighting elements for parks and green spaces. The principle behind the design was based on being welcoming, as with the entire street furniture program. This was evident in the intersection between the street lights and the ground, for example, in terms of the way that they tapered upward, or the tops of the footpath lighting, which seemed to create space thanks to their umbrella-like coverings and interaction with the light.

Light stones

One particularly unique design came in the form of the "light stones", which serve as accent lighting in parks and resemble the similarly designed concrete seats. The “light stones” can be placed on the ground or mounted on poles.
