Franz Mon elevators
Various word and sentence designs are waiting to be discovered in eight different elevators.

Artistic staging of 4 main elevators in the new main quarter of what used to be Bayerischen Rück in Unterföhring, Munich. Franz Mon’s phonetic poems appear partly on the elevator’s glass panelling and partly on the concrete shaft wall, this means that different poems assemble each time the elevator stops. The text applied to the glass panelling emphasise the particular element of the
building (A,B,C,D).

One of the special features in Munich’s new building is without doubt the elevator staging designed by Frankfurt-born Franz Mon. Cited in the elevators at the 4 corners of the building (cores A, B, C and D) are a total of 32 poems that were specially created by the performance poet. Due to the presence of a glass panel between the elevator’s wall and its interior, the poems were printed on the exterior wall. The poems are created in such a way that they always alliterate the text of the core. This text, then, is also printed on the glass panel and travels continuously with the elevator, generating a new people each time it stops.
